
Jazmine was a Philadelphia native is a native of Philadelphia, and was raised there. Pam her mother is an ex-backup singer at Philadelphia International Records. In the early age of five her father was appointed to be her curator in the Strawberry Mansion Section. Her family eventually moved into this historical property. The 2005 Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts graduated and a major in the field of vocal music. Sullivan started singing in children's chorus in the contralto position, later she joined the adult choir just a couple of years later. Sullivan had limited exposure to secular music. She recalls when she was in her 11th year when someone was requesting her to sing for solos in the church. However, she was not quite ready to go. "Then when McDonald's offered a competition to students in big cities I had the opportunity to perform 'Accept what God Allows' on It's Showtime at the Apollo and the audience was very enthusiastic". Stevie Wonder sang her part on the day of the birthday celebrations of her son at the age of 13. Sullivan aged 15 at the time, signed her first contract with Jive Records. It was her first time signing with Jive Records when she was 15. She recorded an entire album, but the album did not see release. Sullivan was later dismissed from the record label. Missy Elliott was the producer on a couple of tracks that were on Her debut album. The most notable of these was "Backstabbers" by Timbaland, which Elliott created and produced, was her favorite song.
